English Language students at Thanh Do University recently participated in a tour-guiding field practice program, an experiential learning activity designed to connect classroom learning with real-world professional practice. The study tour took place across Ninh Binh’s renowned destinations, including Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, Tuyet Tinh Coc, Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, Mua Cave and Bai Dinh Pagoda. .

The field trip provided students with first-hand exposure to tour planning and operations while helping them develop professional skills, adaptability and practical experience before graduation.

Throughout the program, students took on the roles of tour guides and tour operators, planning itineraries, organizing schedules, managing tour groups, handling unexpected situations and delivering guided presentations at tourist attractions. The experience enabled them to apply classroom knowledge in authentic settings while gaining a deeper understanding of industry expectations.

Through the field practice, students developed:

• Practical skills in planning and operating tours.
• Communication, tour-guiding and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to design effective travel itineraries.
• Valuable industry experience for future career development.
• Creativity through producing videos, photographs and digital content documenting their learning journey.

In addition, creating multimedia content throughout the trip strengthened students’ digital communication skills, teamwork and creativity - essential competencies for careers in tourism, hospitality and media.
